Keynote Speaker:
Shapoor Hamid, PhD
Senior Scientist, URS Corporation
Dr. Hamid is a nationally and internationally well known expert in the field of conversion technologies and Electricity Generation, MSW to energy, and geochemical engineering with over 20 years experience in scientific evaluation of waste processing projects, and project management. Provided technical assistance for the design, construction and commissioning of pyrolysis and gasification technologies in a variety of applications including municipal solid waste. He also provided technical assistance for design, construction and application of thermal oxidizers, scrubbers, and other air emission control systems. He worked closely with EPA, AQMD, and other regulatory authorities and prepared permit applications for thermal processes. He also assisted in siting and public outreach for conversion technology facilities.
Dr. Hamid was lead technical expert for the Evaluation of Alternative Solid Waste Processing and Electricity Generation Technologies for the Bureau of Sanitation City of Los Angeles and he was the project manager for conversion technology evaluation for the County of Los Angeles. Dr. Hamid also evaluated conversion technologies for Cleveland Public Power Ohio, City of Huntsville Alabama, Municipality of Halton Canada, and many utility companies.
